Services

Under the direction of our Rabbi, services are held throughout the year. Friday Evening Family services meet once a month on the second Friday at 7:15pm. Saturday morning Shabbat services are held every Saturday morning at 9:30am. In addition, special holiday services such as Sukkot, Simchat Torah, Purim services with masqueraded and Megillah reading, Passover, etc. are scheduled at appropriate times.

Congregation Beit Haverim is a Conservative/Egalitarian congregation. Thus men and women are accorded equal rights and responsibilities. All our members are counted in the Minyan, may be called to the Torah, may be assigned other honors, and may conduct position of the liturgy. Every Bar and Bat Mitzvah is held on Shabbat or Yom Tov and boys and girls chant the Haftorah and are called to the Torah.

Children are welcome at all of our services -- especially the Friday Evening Family Service which includes something meaningful for the children. The relaxed style, warm atmosphere and joyful services help all to feel at ease. We use special prayer books where all key responses are also written in transliteration on each pge so that everyone can comfortably follow, even if not fluent in Hebrew. There is a modern contemporary English translation of all the prayers and explanatory notes in English. Thus everyone may participate fully in worship that is pleasant and meaningful.

High Holy Day Services

Inspiring High Holy Day services are held each year at the beautiful Sullivan Center in Vernon Hills. They are conducted by Rabbi Feldheim, Cantor Joel J. Reznick, and the choir.
